Destroy the evil spirits!

A retro action game in which you have to defeat infinite waves of undead demons. Use low and high attacks to survive, but time them right to not miss. Special types of spirits will appear as you progress through the waves, stay alert as they can use their magic to confuse you! When things look dangerous, unleash your special move and plow through the Yokai rush!


THE CAST

The most basic Yokai, it just flies in a straight line. Kill it.

Wheel-kun likes spinning in the ground. Smash it.

Tongue-kun moves in a smooth wave, making it more dicciult to hit. Destroy it.

Hat-kun moves up and down at different speeds. Aim well and obliterate it.

Mirror-chan will change sides everytime you attack. Try to use this in your advantage and shatter it in a thousand pieces.

Umbrella-chan will duck or jump whenever you attack. Be smarter than it and annihilate it.

Ok, I've managed to play the game! The idea is simple, but the gameplay proved difficult enough! Gotta say, the instructions at the beginning are pretty much unreadable (maybe you didn't set the scaling properly?) and there's an enormous difference on the score whether you use the special move or not, which in my opinion forces the player to use it as soon as it's up.. And, design-wise, you should probably give your player more choices during the gameplay. Anyway the idea is nice and I've appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah the UI is very blurry, there´s an update in the way that fixes this. Regarding the special, it also heals one heart so you have to decide if you want to save it for when you´re low on health...Maybe I´ll upgrade it to healing all hearts so the decission has more weight.

Gameplay is simple, it´s all I could do in 3 days. But I´m already working on adding something more, stay tuned!

Oh, don't get me wrong! Having a simple gameplay isn't necessarily a bad thing! It also means that it's quicker for a new player to jump in and grasp the concepts, which is obviously a good thing! Not that I am a game designer, mind me! But my advice is: just make sure that the gameplay is somehow altered after a while, to give the player both a sense of increasing difficulty and an equal rewarding (which is something you already started with those two extra yokai). Keep it up!
